Explore Stratford’s Food Trails: What to Eat, Where to Go, and How to Book

Stratford’s tastiest season is officially here.

If you’ve ever wanted to experience Stratford one bite (or paddle) at a time, now’s the moment. From spring through fall, the town’s culinary trails bring together the best of Stratford’s food scene—local, handcrafted, and full of character. And this year, The Boathouse is not just a stop on two of them—we’re your trail pass pick-up spot for all three.

Savour & Sip at the Boathouse

The Savour & Sip Trail is all about slow moments and seasonal flavours. It’s a self-guided experience featuring locally-made food and drink pairings, perfect for picnic lovers and al fresco explorers. We’re thrilled to be part of it this season with our "Olive Your Favourite Sundae": creamy vanilla ice cream drizzled with citrus olive oil from Olive Your Favourite, topped with golden honey from Daisy Bee Honey and a delicate sprinkle of Himalayan salt. Unexpected, indulgent, unforgettable. Learn more about the Savour & Sip Trail here.

Bacon, Ale & a True Canadian Classic

Then there’s the Bacon & Ale Trail—a nod to Stratford’s rich brewing heritage and our love for anything wrapped in bacon. Our featured item, “The Canadian,” brings together locally-sourced back bacon from The Little Pork Shoppe, honey mustard, creamy mayo, crisp lettuce, and ripe tomatoes. Simple. Classic. Proudly Canadian. Explore the Bacon & Ale Trail here.

Where to Get Your Passes

Not planning to stop for bacon or a sundae? That’s okay—you can still swing by the Boathouse to pick up passes for all three of Stratford’s culinary trails, including the Chocolate Trail. View all of Stratford’s culinary and seasonal trails here.

Bookable Boathouse Experiences

Looking to add a little more adventure to your day? We’ve bundled up two of our favourite things—trail treats and river views—into bookable experiences that make planning easy.

Picnic on the Water

Our Picnic on the Water package includes a Savour & Sip Trail pass for two, a 2-hour paddleboat or canoe rental, and a reusable tote for your trail goodies. Redeem your vouchers at trail stops, pack your picnic basket, then float along the Avon and feast as you go.

Bike & Bite Tour

Prefer to stay on land? Our Bike & Bite Tour includes a Bacon & Ale Trail pass and a standard or e-bike rental through our partners at Ross’ Bike Works. You’ll also get suggested cycling routes, helmets, and locks—everything you need for a flavour-filled day on two wheels.

Plan Your Day at the Boathouse

Trail passes and packages can be booked in advance or picked up in person at The Boathouse. If you’re not sure where to start, just swing by our rental window and ask. We’ll help you plan the perfect Stratford day.

And if you’d like more details on our experience packages, we wrote a full blog about them right here.

Let’s make this summer one to savour.
